Canning honey
Last weekend I took the 11 lbs of honey which I bought at the local farmers market and canned it. The large gallon container it originally came in has a tendency to leak from the top.
Very easy to do. Steam clean the mason jar, slighly warm the honey, and transfer, and close tightly.
Honey will not go bad, only crystalize over time.
I have noticed the same amount of honey is up about 2-3 dollars since last year. Next week I am planning on sealing up 11 lbs of buckwheat honey for long term storage. The smaller 16oz wide mouth jars make it easy to distribute / consume as well.
Update: As of the end of May, it seems the 16oz glass jars are up a dollar in price.
