Sign of the times. As turning a profit for corporations becomes more dificult prepare to portion size decrease. Processed food variety and quality will continue to decrease over time. The time is now to learn to cook and preserve your own food. Homemade bread and soups take little time and provide more nutrients and none of the preservatives.

Swapping Ingredients, Raising Prices
Are Two Options; Trailing Inflation

With prices continuing to march higher for commodities ranging from corn to wheat, food companies are cutting costs, raising prices and otherwise adjusting to tighter margins for the long haul.
Sara Lee Corp. is reformulating some of its regional bread brands with cheaper, lower-protein wheat. General Mills Inc. has reduced the number of Hamburger Helper varieties to about 40 from 75 and has cut the number of pasta shapes in the product across the board.
Campbell Soup Co. is paring the number of ingredients in its soups by an undisclosed amount, ranging from meats and vegetables to flavors and spices.
